Classic Oshkosh airport fire trucks on Biglorryblog...another one from the SUPERTRUCK archives!

One of those wonderful SUPERTRUCK archive shots and it's an Oshkosh 8x8 airport crash tender (at least I think it is), albeit with Rosenbauer bodywork although if anyone knows any better post up the comment. Nice shot here showing the articulation on the test track and click through here for more...

Pretty beefy-looking beast! Wonder what was under the hood? Detroit Diesel...CAT?

If memory serves me right, it was the Oshkosh DF model and not many were made. It was incredible off road but from what I was told they were slow and cumbersome. Conrad also made a very nice 1/50 scale model of one too.

Hey Mark... I remember when I was working at HNL (Honolulu International Airport) for Korean Air in the early '90's, Honolulu Intl Airport's Crash Rescue outfit had 2 Oshkosh 8x8's, both were driven by twin Detroit 8V92TTA's with 575hp each. I vaguely remember that there was one engine in the far most rear of the unit and one directly behind the you know, off hand, what model those were? Aloha from Maui Keone :)
