Double-headed trucks anyone? I've been meaning to post this stuff up for a while and have Tony Gibbs to thanks for the pictures and data. Yes it's the terminally-weird T8 twin cab Mack tank transporter and if you don't believe me about it being a proper double-header then click through here now...

And as you can see from this shot the centre spine joining both cabs could be 'broken' to allow a tank to be loaded or unloaded...

Here's the techie stuff....

Must have been interesting to see it go around a corner....

Gigger T8.JPG

There was even a 'Big Brother' version of it too with double push-pull units for heavier tanks... anyone know anything about this?

The two-headed truck concept was used on more than one occasion by the US Army in this instance as the transportation system for the mighty atomic cannon (which BLB has blogged upon in the past)...in this case the two tractors came from Kenworth...does anyone know of any more double-header trucks like the T8? If so I'm up for words and pictures to the usual biglorryblog@goglemail.com
