Kennedy Space Centre...they did things differently at the Cape back then says Bob Tuck to Biglorryblog!
"Best wishes from sunny Florida," says Bob Tuck, "...where it's been a very nice 78 degrees today. Just about right to sit on the beach. Haven't been looking for too much wagon action (sorry) but I thought the attached may be of interest. We had a visit to the Kennedy Space Centre (about 10 days before the latest lift off of Discovery) and it's well worth a visit - especially to someone like yourself who loves the art of flight. What did catch my eye was how the early rockets had been moved around by an M26 Pacific - War Time tank transporter. They use a crawler set up now to inch things to the start off plinth."
Bob continues: "And here are a couple of snaps showing motors from the local fairground and even those motors look a lot classy over here than the UK equivalents."
"While wouldn't it be great to have bonneted Volvos like the attached running up and down the M1."
"And of course thought you'd like the straddle carrier in a local boatyard."
"Sadly only have about 10 days left of our holiday...."
"Cheers...Bob."
