First gold FORS members revealed
Transport for London (TfL) has revealed the first eight companies to achieve gold status as part of its Freight Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS).
They are: Travis Perkins Group, Hanson Cement, John Lewis Partnership, Hall Fuels, O’Donovan (Waste Disposal), London Waste, City of London and Brett Concrete.
Launched in April 2008 the free, voluntary scheme, is at its simplest level a reward and recognition initiative aimed at improving fleet and freight vehicle operational efficiency.
Peter Hendy, London’s transport commissioner, says: “To have the first Gold standard FORS members is a testament to the commitment of the haulage industry to deliver ongoing improvements to make the capital safer for all.”
FORS, which is open to any type and size of operation running vans and lorries in London, has now passed the 1,000 member mark, meaning more than 93,000 vehicles are registered under the scheme.
Last year TfL revealed is was looking at whether to licence out FORS in a bid to ensure its future in a bid to secure its long-term future.
