Lewis Tankers wins Univar contract

Goole-based road tanker haulier Lewis Tankers has won a bulk solvents distribution contract with Univar.

Under the agreement, the company will provide a UK transport service for the chemical distributor, which operates a sea fed terminal at Cadishead, Manchester.

Lewis Tankers will use a contract fleet of six multi-compartment solvents tanks to carry out the work, supported by a second tier of dedicated solvents tanks when required.

Previously, distribution of bulk solvents at Univar has been handled by several road tanker operators on a contracted and spot hire basis. The contract will be managed by Steve Smith, north west regional manager at Lewis Tankers.

Stewart MacDonald, MD at Lewis Tankers, says: "It means we can maximise utilisation of the contract fleet and add additional resources as needed. By supporting the contract with dedicated solvents tanks from our multi-user fleet we can minimise cleanouts, reducing the environmental impact."
