Hertfordshire Police said the driver called them out to his lorry in Works Road, Letchworth, at 1pm on Thursday 14 November. The vehicle had stopped earlier in the day in east London.
Searches of the LGV discovered the vast stash of drugs and police are now appealing for witnesses.
Detective superintendent Peter Fulham said: “A significant quantity of drugs has been removed from criminal circulation and I have a team of officers investigating who is responsible for their importation and intended distribution.”
Anyone with information should contact the Herts Police non-emergency number 101 quoting Operation Adductor. Alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
