Mitchell Storage and Distribution trebles depot size

Fortec member Mitchell Storage and Distribution has trebled its warehouse capacity to cope with rising pallet volumes.

The Leicester-based family-run firm has relocated 300 yards on the East Goscote Industrial Estate to a 22,500ft2 site, and has not ruled out opening another depot.

A spokeswoman for the business tells CM: "In the past year, there's been a sudden influx of business and this can be attributed to us being able to offer more services via Fortec, which we joined two years ago. The new warehouse is pretty much at full capacity, which is why in the future we may need to open another depot in Leicestershire."

When the company joined Fortec in 2008, it was handling 15 pallets a night, compared with an average of 70 today.

MD Bill Mitchell adds: "We have had a new client come on board, and with them have handled more than 500 pallets in three weeks."

Recent purchases include one 18-tonne vehicle and three 40ft trailers.
