Malcolm Harrison sell off Dragon Rescue fleet

The final rites were performed over fallen recovery giant Dragon Rescue by Malcolm Harrison Auctions as it completed the sale of rolling stock and equipment.

Dragon Rescue, based in Cardiff, Merthyr and Pyle, near Bridgend, ceased trading on 1st September 2011 with chairman Stephen Powell citing diminishing levels of work and unsupportive banks as the reasons for the firm's collapse.

Malcolm Harrison sold the 33 vehicles on behalf of Singers Corporate Asset Finance, and there were 174 registered buyers in attendance at Ross-on-Wye. Malcolm Harrison auction manager Charlie Foyle says notwithstanding the unfortunate circumstances the company was very happy with the outcome of the sale, as were Singers.

"There was a wide range of vehicles including spec lifts, tilt and slides, and wreckers, with the majority commanding very good money. Bidders knew that these vehicles came from a recognised and entirely genuine source, and that they'd been well looked after. The fact that the majority were fitted with Dyson equipment helped, as Roger's recovery systems enjoy an excellent reputation within the industry - operators know and trust it to do the job," he says.
