Volvo Trucks has set up a dedicated Trade & Export Centre in Coventry that offers used truck dealers and exporters a place to view more than 100 vehicles, less than three years after it closed the used truck retail centre

Peter Groome (pictured right), the used truck director at Volvo Trucks, says the facility, which is located on the Torrington Avenue Industrial Estate, will have all brands of trucks. "There is a workshop on the three-acre site where Volvo trained technicians are carrying out vehicle preparation, upfits of equipment and repairs for customers.

"We're seeing a lot interest in the facility from both trade buyers and exporters. This is the first time we have had a dedicated location and we have room for future expansion here.

"We've got showroom, offices and workshop facilities all in one place now which makes it easier for customers to do business with us," he says.

The move comes less than three years after the manufacturer announced it had closed its Middlemarch Business Park, Coventry-based Used Truck Retail Sales operation after just four year in a bid to reduce overheads.

This operation appears to have a different remit and Groome says Volvo Trucks need to be stronger on trade-ins on both Volvo and non-Volvo product.

The manufacturer has been activity buying all-branded stock in the open market.

"This dedicated site helps provide the infrastructure to support our trade and export business," he adds.
