Asda to open home delivery hub in Enfield

Asda will open a new home-delivery hub in August to serve north London, creating 100 delivery driver jobs.

The supermarket giant, which recently announced its intention to acquire rival Netto, has signed a 15-year lease at the Acentrum Park distribution site in Enfield.

"This is an innovative system for home shopping. Rather than filling out customer orders in-store, Asda colleagues will now pick efficiently and quickly at the site, completing twice as many orders per hour," a spokesman for Asda tells

A total of 300 jobs will be created, including the 100 delivery driver jobs. Recruitment is ongoing and applications can be made via Job Centre Plus in Enfield.

Asda says its fleet procurement process for 2010 is complete, so no new vans will be purchased.
