Man arrested after migrants found in refrigerated truck
A man has been arrested on suspicion of assisting illegal entry into the UK after a number of suspected migrants were found in a refrigerated truck in Kent.
Kent Police said a 54-year-old man was brought into custody on 9 May, following the discovery of the clandestine entrants in the supermarket HGV.
Commercial Motor understands the truck involved was making a delivery to Aldi in Northfleet.
A Kent Police spokesman said: “Kent Police was called at 11.32pm on Tuesday 9 May 2017 to a report of a number of suspected migrants in a refrigerated truck in a supermarket car park in London Road, Northfleet.
“Officers and the South East Coast Ambulance Service attended and a boy was taken to hospital as a precaution. He was later discharged and the group were taken to the Home Office immigration enforcement facility.”
