Quick questions: Commercial Motor meets Rob Binnion, fleet sales manager, Greenhous Daf

Greenhous Daf

Commercial Motor aftermarket editor Roger Brown talks to Rob Binnion, fleet sales manager at Greenhous Daf, who reveals he loves keeping fit and enjoys taking a holiday in Majorca.

RB: What is your favourite holiday destination?
Rob B: Majorca, because it’s an island that has something for everyone.

RB: What car do you drive?
Rob B: A Vauxhall Insignia.

RB: What are your hobbies?
Rob B: Keeping fit; I enjoy going to the gym, playing racketball, golf and walking.

RB: How did you get into the industry?
Rob B: I worked for Goodyear as a salesman, calling on truck fleets and commercial dealers. The natural progression was to sell the trucks, which the tyres were fitted to. I have been with Greenhous since 2001 and I am based at the Willenhall, West Midlands, site. A few months ago I was promoted to fleet sales manager at Greenhous Daf after working as retail truck sales manager. There is nothing I like more than getting out of the office to meet new customers and my focus is to build relationships with larger fleet companies.

RB: How would you encourage more young people into the industry?
Rob B: Do more to highlight the opportunities and potential of the automotive trade to young people at trade shows and truck festivals.

RB: What is the outlook for your sector of the market over the next 12 months?
Rob B: Similar to last year. We had a good 2016 and will be looking for an upward progression in terms of sales for this one. I’m confident we will achieve this. It will be interesting to see how the markets respond to election results in France and Germany, and whether this will affect truck sales.

RB: What is your approach to life?
Rob B: To work hard and play harder.
