New Mercedes-Benz Vito UK launch details revealed
Mercedes-Benz new Vito van will adopt a front-wheel-drive layout and have the option of a Euro-6 compliant powertrain when it is launched in the UK in March of next year.
The new Vito will be available in both rear and front-wheel-drive, with two separate powertrains for the differing models. Two wheelbase options, three load lengths and three GVWs will be available, with the two engine options producing a total of five different power outputs.
Front-wheel-drive models will be available up to 3.05 tonnes, offering a payload of up to 1,289kg, with power coming from a transverse-mounted 1.6-litre four cylinder engine. Two models badged 109 CDI and 111 CDI will deliver power outputs of 88hp and 114hp, respectively.
Traditional rear-wheel-drive Vitos will also be available, with a larger displacement 2.15-litre four-cylinder unit offering outputs of 136hp in the 114CDI, 163hp in the 116 CDI and a 119 BlueTec delivering 190hp. The Vito BlueTec will also be the first vehicle in its class to achieve Euro-6 engine requirements.
Rear-wheel-drive models will be available at a maximum GVW of 3.2 tonnes, with a payload capacity of 1,369kg.
Now 140mm longer, with body lengths of 4,895mm, 5,140mm and 5,370mm, the Vito’s loadspace actually remains unchanged, with load volumes of between 5.5m3 and 6.6m3, as increases to the dimensions of the van have been added to further protect pedestrians.
As well as panel van models, crew cab and minibus versions will also be available.
