All seven major truck manufacturers to have presence at Tip-ex 2018
All seven major truck manufacturers are set to exhibit at Tip-ex and Tank-ex 2018 at the Harrogate Convention Centre between 31 May and 2 June.
DAF will be outside and directly opposite the main entrance to the exhibition halls and is bringing its latest range of CF tipper and mixer chassis, which offer up to 250kg additional payload. Its new ultra-compact exhaust system also creates space on the chassis, making the CF ideal for applications requiring packaging of ancillary equipment for tipper, tanker and construction roles such as hook-loader, tipper-grab and mixer applications.
Also on show is a dedicated construction LF 18-tonner featuring a raised front bumper with ground clearance of 320mm and an approach angle of almost 25 degrees. DAF says it has the tightest turning circle in this weight category.
Iveco is displaying its light commercial vehicle, medium and heavy truck ranges this year, showcasing a message of suitability in the building, construction and waste sectors. On show is the manufacturer’s new Stralis X-Way, which offers what it claims is class-leading low kerb weights that improve payload. The X-Way combines the strength of a Trakker chassis with the fuel efficiency, comfort and driveability of the Stralis range.
Also on display is the Eurocargo and, highlighting its green credentials, a Daily Hi-Matic Natural Power, part of the Daily Blue Power range voted International Van of the Year 2018. There is also a Stralis NP – the gas-powered artic that has a range of up to 1,600km.
Mercedes-Benz has brought both its brands. Fuso is represented by a Canter 7C15 with a tipping box body on stand A10, while alongside the Canter are two additional Mercedes-Benz trucks on the stand. One is a low-height Arocs 8x4 tipper, while the other is its urban truck – the Econic.
Meanwhile, MAN’s offerings can be found on the Steadplan stand, and the MAN dealer has more than just the major manufacturer on display – it has moving floor trailers from Kraker Trailers and the first UK-spec tipping trailer from Dutch manufacturer D-Tec Trailers.
Renault Trucks’ stand features two Range T 6x2 tractor units widely used in the construction sector. One is a lightweight 11-litre tractor unit from Thompson’s of York with a mini mid-lift, ideal for aggregate or liquid applications with a factory-fitted PTO and tipping equipment, while the other features a 13-litre engine with a 3,200mm wheelbase – ideal for manoeuvring in tight spaces.
Also on show is a Range C 8x4 fitted with an 11-litre engine, Night and Day cab and a Wilcox insulated aggregate tipper body – ideal for weight-conscious tipper operators.
Scania has a major presence at the show and is showcasing two new product ranges, the Scania XT and the L-series. It is also showing two XT trucks, one in P-cab format, the other a G-series model (pictured, top). XT specification is available across the Scania range and has been designed for vehicles operating in the most arduous conditions.
Also on show is the UK’s first L-series model, which is available in three roof heights – low, normal and high – and represents entirely new low-entry cab series designed for urban environment applications such as local distribution, waste and construction.
And finally Volvo Trucks’ stand features an FMX 8x4 13-litre Day cabbed tipper configured for a wide cross-section of typical multi-axle tipper operations. This fully air-suspended vehicle features a Thompsons Loadmaster Lite body and a lower passenger door window to safeguard vulnerable road users in urban environments. There is also an FH Lite 6x2 13-litre 500hp pusher-axle tractor unit with a Globetrotter cab, monoleaf front suspension and Alcoa brushed aluminium wheels.
