Suttle Transport Services takes delivery of three Profi Liner curtainsiders from Krone

Krone

Krone has supplied Wetherby-based Suttle Transport Services with three lifting, sliding-roof Profi Liner curtainsiders to transport packaging materials, horticultural products and equipment for the events industry.

The trailers run at a height of 4,112mm for domestic use. However, using a hydraulic ratchet system, the roof can be lowered by up to 150mm, in 50mm stages, to comply with the 4m height restriction imposed on the continent.

For loading, the roof can be raised by up to 500mm, to give a height of 3,060mm through the sides and rear. Once the vehicle is loaded the roof is lowered to its chosen height.

The Profi Liners are fitted as standard with Krone’s multi-lock side raves, each of which has up to 130 lashing points. Suttle Transport Services operates throughout the UK, Holland, Germany and Belgium carrying a range of high-volume cargo.

It runs a mixed vehicle fleet, including vans for same-day courier work, 18-tonne rigids and 44 tonne artics. MD Alan Suttle said: “We specified Krone Profi Liners with lifting and sliding roofs to give us the loading flexibility required for over-sized and mixed freight.

"Trees, for example, or stage equipment can be loaded through the top and then literally wrapped, as the roof is slid back and lowered to the appropriate running height. The loading restraint is another feature which you only find on a Krone curtainsider.

“With the Krone multi-lock system we can strap anywhere along each side rave, which makes it possible to securely load cages, pallets or whatever at any point along the trailer bed. To complement this, the trailers come with Krone’s roof-mounted straps, which slide along the trailer length and pull down to fix onto the side raves, again, great all-round flexibility.”
