Volkswagen reveals urban van of the future
Volkswagen (VW) has unveiled its version of an ultra-modern delivery van at the Geneva motor show, with the electrically powered e-Co-Motion concept.
According to VW, the priorities in an urban CV are manoeuvrability, a small footprint and good all-round visibility with a high seat position.
Vehicles should also have a low cargo floor height, whilst offering a large load volume and be capable of being converted into multiple iterations.
Powered by an electric motor paired to the rear axle, the maximum claimed power output for the e-Co-Motion is 85kW with 270Nm of torque. It is also said to achieved the first of Volkswagen’s key objectives with a 8.95m turning circle, thanks to the larger than normal turning angles of the front axle.
Volkswagen also proposes a three stage modular battery configuration, with 20kWh, 30kWh and 40kWh packs enabling driving ranges of up to 125 miles.
