Charthire, the national truck contract hire company specialising in truck rental and fleet management, is showing true business sense in its recent choice of tyre provider. Despite the recession, and the tightening of budgets across the board, Charthire still opted for premium provider Bridgestone UK to supply new and retread tyres to their full fleet, and to provide tyre services through its national Truck Point service network.

Chris Spencer, managing director of Charthire explains: "We had a large number of tyre providers pitching for our business, providing a wide range of price options, and Bridgestone was not the cheapest. However, having used some of the initially cheaper providers in the past, we've learnt that it's imperative to invest in premium tyres and services for long-term value for money."

Spencer continues: "Bridgestone certainly offered the most comprehensive tyre management programme, and after experiencing other providers it is great to come back to Bridgestone. We were also very impressed by Bridgestone's continuality of supply with their tyres. Their Truck Point Network service is second to none, and Bridgestone's Siebel account system actually minimizes our administration costs. It all really adds up. "

Greg Ward, commercial sales director at Bridgestone UK, commented: "Choosing your fleet's tyre supplier should never be taken lightly, and we're delighted that Charthire has returned to Bridgestone and our Truck Point Network. The new contract is a great vote of confidence in our products and services."

Bridgestone's unique state-of-the-art account system Siebel is a comprehensive, bespoke Internet-based tyre management and billing system that integrates all tyre-related activities performed on behalf of the fleet.

The system offers total real-time visibility of all tyres provided from fitting to disposal, and shows cost/km and km/mm for the total fleet and individual vehicles, while the reporting function allows fleets to closely track tyre expenditure and continuously measure performance against key indicators.
