Howard Tenens is keen to promote the National Fork Lift Truck Association (FLTA) training week between 19th and 25th September 2011. First launched in 2008, the FLTA's National Safety Week continues to raise awareness of the dangers to those operating and working around fork lift trucks. Fatal fork lift truck accidents in the UK have fallen by over two thirds since the campaign began according to new statistics by the Health & Safety Executive. The FLTA Chief Executive, David Ellison highlighted the statistics while unveiling the training-centred theme 'More Skills, Less Spills' for this year's Safety Week. He said, 'Many fork lift trucks are still operated by people who are not adequately trained, putting life, limb and property at serious risk." To raise awareness of the dangers of operating fork lift trucks Howard Tenens is rigorous in their ongoing training of staff in order to minimise risk. Ben Morris, Managing Director -Operations said, "We are keen to promote The National Fork Lift Truck Safety Week as it provides another means of raising awareness of the potential dangers and the importance of safety and training when operating a fork lift truck (FLT) and we applaud the efforts of the FTLA to encourage greater corporate responsibility across the industry." Ben continues, "Our Health & Safety Manager for the Group, Tom Harmon, has issued a directive this week to all managers, supervisors and trainers to audit their fork lift tuck operators to ensure that safety, training and maintenance are all up to date. This information is recorded and kept as evidence of the paramount importance we place on health and safety in the workplace."
