New Hybrid buses for Lothian buses
On September 11 the UK's greenest and cleanest bus fleet was launched in readiness to take to the streets of Edinburgh.
The buses, built by Alexander Dennis (ADL) in Falkirk for Lothian Buses are a result of the low carbon initiative, The Scottish Green Bus Fund, introduced by the Scottish Government.
The new fleet of 15 double decker Hybrids produce 15% less greenhouse gas emissions than diesel equivalents.
Ian Craig, Managing Director of Lothian buses said. "The new hybrid fleet is part of our continued commitment and investment to combat air pollution and to offer our passengers a low carbon public transport."
With other bus schemes planned, each new low carbon bus is expected to deliver an average CO2 saving of around 21 tonnes per year and 300 tonnes over a 15 year life cycle.
The buses themselves are also packed with unique features to ensure energy consumption is kept to a minimum
