Fulda, one of Germany's leading manufacturers of quality tyres, announces the Fulda Ecocontrol 2 and Fulda Ecoforce 2 ranges of truck tyres. The new tyres, thanks to their operational flexibility and new design features, offer an ideal solution with good overall performance to commercial vehicle operators looking to reduce their operating costs. Respectively for steer and drive axles, the new ranges are for vehicles operating in both long and regional haul service as well as in distribution. The long and regional haul capability gives more operational flexibility. In addition a new carcass design and tread features give potential cost savings for truck operators thanks to a balance of lower fuel consumption and greater mileage. The new tyres comply with the future EU regulation 661/2009, relating to rolling resistance and noise. The Fulda Ecocontrol 2 steer axle tyre replaces the Ecocontrol + and the Regiocontrol +. The Fulda Ecoforce 2 drive axle tyre replaces the Ecoforce + and the Regioforce +. The new Fulda Ecocontrol 2 and Ecoforce 2 give good performance in both rolling resistance and mileage. The new tyres are also lighter, providing the potential for increased payloads. The weight savings vary from between almost 2 kg to more than 6 kg per tyre depending on size1. "The new Fulda Ecocontrol 2 and Fulda Ecoforce 2 tyres offer more flexibility to the many commercial vehicle operators who operate both long and regional haul vehicles. The performance balance that these tyres provide means both good rolling resistance, for lower fuel consumption, and higher mileage, for longer life. The new Fulda range is perfect for the cost conscious fleet operator," said Boris Stevanovic, Marketing Director Truck Tyres for Goodyear Dunlop Tyres Operations S.A. FULDA ECOCONTROL 2 Fulda Ecocontrol 2 steer tyres feature a new carcass, which has been defined by numerical tools resulting in uniform wear and good mileage potential. The tread pattern features high blading geometry to ensure good wet braking and all-season capability. These features along with new tread compound technology, which is focused on mileage performance, improve the wear characteristics and thus contribute to greater mileage potential. The geometry of the blading also reduces tyre noise. The new tyre is also lighter than its predecessors, thanks to the new construction, so higher payloads are possible. Rolling resistance is improved in the Fulda Ecocontrol 2, when compared to its predecessor. This along with good mileage means that operators benefit from lower fuel bills and long-lasting tyres1. FULDA ECOFORCE 2 Fulda Ecoforce 2 drive tyres, similarly to the Ecocontrol 2, have a new carcass with similar benefits in terms of uniform wear characteristics and mileage potential. Enhanced traction is another important benefit thanks to a 5-block, deep tread design with semi-open shoulders. Like the Ecocontrol 2, the tread compound technology has been developed for mileage performance. These features not only mean that a high level of traction is maintained throughout the tyres' life but also wet traction and winter performance are maintained at a high level. In winter conditions and in mud the shoulder design enhances traction performance and skid resistance. Other features include a self-cleaning tread, a high-mileage tread compound and greater damage resistance. This tyre too has improved performance when compared to its predecessor1. FULDA TRAILER TYRES Fulda Ecotonn and Ecotonn + trailer tyres complement the Fulda Ecocontrol 2 and Ecoforce 2 ranges. These tyres are suitable for both long and regional haul service and are available in sizes 385/65R22.5 and 385/55R22.5 as well as a number of 17.5" and 19.5" sizes including low platform trailer applications. SIZES The new tyres are available in the following sizes: 295/80R22.5 152/148 M 315/70R22.5 154/150 L (152/148 M) 315/80R22.5 156/150 L (154/150 M) All the tyres are regroovable and retreadable 1 All performance comparisons quoted are based on internal assessment at the Goodyear Innovation Center Luxembourg during 2010 and 2011.
