Warburtons has added 38 new DAF rigids with bodies from Tiger Trailers to its fleet which delivers to 18,500 stores every day. The rigids built on 14-tonne DAF chassis from Lancashire DAF were designed specifically for Warburtons following an order placed at the end of 2022.
Steve Gray, head of transport at Warburtons, comments: “It has been reassuring to have been involved throughout the design and manufacturing process. We have taken delivery of 10 of the vans already and are very impressed with the final product. We are looking forward to a further 28 due joining our fleet in spring this year.”
Inside, the rigids feature specialised racking along the sides and adjustable centre aisle load bars. Crew doors on either side of the vehicle allow easy access to the load and this area is covered by a hinged alloy floor section when not in use to maximise load capacity.
The trucks are equipped with Dhollandia tail lifts and two Labcraft B3 Banksman reversing lights are fitted to the rear to provide good visibility in all conditions. Tiger Trailers worked with Warburtons throughout the design process to create the right specification for their needs. The team regularly visited Tiger’s factory and reviewed 3D models to see how the design was evolving.
Tom Stott, technical sales manager at Tiger Trailers, comments: “It’s been a pleasure to work closely with Steve and his team at Warburtons. At Tiger we are proud to offer competitive lead times, and guarantee a premium product without compromising on quality. To have done so for one of Britain’s most-recognisable brands is something to be celebrated, and we are hopeful to build on the relationship we have established with Steve and Warburtons in the future.”
Tiger Trailers is based in Cheshire and offers new, used and rental trailers as well as aftersales care.
