Adding to its rental fleet, Dawsongroup has taken delivery of 75 16-tonne Iveco Eurocargo road sweepers. The vehicles are equipped with Bucher Municipal sweeper bodies and were supplied by Northern Commercials Brighouse.
The Eurocargos are built on a 3350mm chassis to offer good manoeuvrability in urban areas. Euro 6 220hp Tector 7 six-cylinder diesel engines are paired with 12-speed automated gearboxes and the trucks have a payload of 6,600kg.
The left-hand drive vehicles are fitted with 360-degree cameras to meet DVS requirements and safety equipment to satisfy FORS standards. Chapter 8 signage also features at the rear to ensure the vehicle is visible to other road users at all times.
Glen Carruthers, Dawsongroup managing director said: “We have run Iveco product before so we know they are very strong and practical for these tough operating conditions. We have already seen some vehicles go out on longer term hire with councils.
“All of our Iveco road sweepers have been supplied by Northern Commercials Brighouse who are based on the same industrial estate as us. Geographically they are very handy, but we always receive great service and have built up an excellent relationship over the years. We have worked together for a long time, something that makes this a strong partnership.”
Dawsongroup’s new Ivecos are on a planned repair and maintenance service contract which offers predictable costing. In 2023, the company ordered 270 Iveco Daily 3.5-tonne vehicles to cater to the lighter end of its customers’ commercial vehicle requirements. Eurocargo road sweepers have previously featured on Dawsongroup’s fleet and generally stay in service for around four years.
Patrick Farbrace, Iveco UK business line director – truck, said: “The Iveco Eurocargo is a highly versatile vehicle, making it perfect for demanding missions such as road sweeping. It’s good to see more of our vehicles join the Dawsongroup fleet.”
