Bolstering its fleet of 84 vehicles, Carnavale has taken delivery of four 7.2-tonne Iveco Daily trucks. The vehicles have been customised to suit Carnavale’s distribution needs for ambient and temperature controlled food and drink products. The company is an Italian manufacturer, importer and distributor of Italian products, delivering to customers across the UK.
The Dailies were supplied by Dawsongroup truck and trailer on a contract hire agreement. Fitted with 180bhp engines and eight-speed automatic gearboxes, the vehicles are Euro 6 compliant so they incur no charges to enter ULEZ or CAZ areas around the country. The temperature-controlled units are paired with Carrier Xarios 6 fridges on Paneltex bodies. Accessed via rear barn doors, the Dailies have a 3.1-tonne payload and a Ratcliff Palfinger tuck-away tail lift for easy loading and unloading.
Carnevale’s transport manager, Ben Ayrton, said: “Contract hire through Dawsongroup gives us the opportunity both of trialling these Iveco Daily 7.2T vehicles and seeing how the Dawsongroup service and maintenance contract can help support our operations. We are still in the infancy of the contract, but the vehicles are out working and service experience so far has been very responsive when needed. The vehicles provided by Dawsongroup were all customised to our specific business needs which is making a huge difference.”
Alongside the four new Iveco Dailies, Carnevale’s fleet includes 26-, 7.5- and 3.5-tonne vehicles. Its distribution sites are spread across the UK with locations in Bedford, Bristol, Huddersfield, Glasgow and a head office in London. Carnevale was founded in 1966 by brothers from Capracotta in Southern Italy. Carmine and Giovanni Carnevale started the business manufacturing and selling mozzarella, ricotta and specialist Italian cheeses, meat products and fresh pasta. The second generation is now running the family business which has grown significantly over the past six decades.
