Quest Waste Management secures new tanker

Supplied by Williams Tanker Services of Morley, Quest Waste has taken delivery of a 32-tonne Cappellotto CapRecy 3200 recycler built on a Scania chassis. After a successful trial period with the self-cleaning recycler, Quest purchased the vehicle and soon ordered another unit.  

Quest Waste Management CEO, Ivan Smyth, said: “The best thing about it is the design of the recycling system; there’s nothing else like it on the market and it’s the best way of recycling for us. It’s not just limited to foul sewers, road silt and surface water drains, but because it separates and cleans the water it saves time, replacement filters, repair bills and we are left with water that is not too coarse – well below the micron levels of other machines we’ve seen. Even our jetting hoses last longer as a result.”

The five-stage recycling process can filter product to between 50 and 100 microns. The vacuum pump has an output of 1,661cfm and the boom can rotate 270 degrees and extend 6.5 metres. Other features include 20 metres of 5ft boom hose and 220 metres of 1ft jetting hose.

Smyth added: “When we’re doing highways work, because of the way the boom is set up, on motorways there is no difference for us to do north or south side work; we can easily swap over carriageways without causing any disruption to other workers. You just back it up and off you go.”

John Gabriel of Williams Tanker Services said: “In the UK there are several established tank manufacturers so the market is quite saturated. But once people have tried the Cappellotto it’s a real game-changer for them. Ivan had shown an initial interest in the vehicles but it was important to give him the confidence to buy. Once he experienced its actual performance, he was delighted and so are we that he is finding it so beneficial for his ongoing business.”

Smyth said: “It doesn’t just look the part; it performs brilliantly too and our customers love it. Really excellent thought has gone into designing a UK tanker for UK weather conditions which I was able to see when I visited their Italian factory; I even noticed they put different core wires into the UK versions, for example, for our unique conditions. It ultimately makes our operators’ lives much easier thanks to all the thought that went into it. The payload’s good too. We love it.”

Cappellotto has been a producer of vacuum tanks for more than 65 years selling to customers in Australia, New Zealand, America and Europe.
