Following a tender process based on build quality, price and aftersales service, TVS Interfleet has secured a £2.3million contract from Hanson UK.
The project involves building 52 concrete McPhee Mixers units to be delivered over the coming months, with completion expected by the end of Q1 this year. The concrete mixers will be liveried in Heidelberg Materials branding as Hanson transitions to its new identity.
Lindsey Rudd, industrial sales director at TVS Interfleet, said: “Winning the new Hanson contract was a big moment for TVS Interfleet, as it shows our ability to deliver quality mixers at competitive prices, and also both understand and then deliver the needs of our customers. McPhee and Hanson have worked together for many years and this latest contract win further extends the union between two powerhouses of the industry. We look forward to seeing the first mixer roll off the production line.
Mark Walmsley, senior category manager at Hanson, said: “TVS Interfleet have worked with Hanson for decades and are able to understand our requirements and translate this into vehicles that meet the demands of our business. We were also impressed by the innovation that the company has recently undertaken to make mixers safer, and we plan to implement these additions in the future to reduce the near miss rollovers.”
Headquartered in Maidenhead, Hanson produces aggregates such as sand, gravel and crushed rock as well as ready-mixed concrete, asphalt, cement and recycled materials.
The company runs a fleet of more than 1200 vehicles with some 850 tippers and mixers operated by owner-drivers. Its road transport arm also operates alongside a joint venture rail freight company, Mendip Rail. Hanson recently rebranded to Heidelberg Materials and under this banner its customers include public sector works, major infrastructure projects, local building and civil engineering and DIY projects.
