Diamond Trucks, a subsidiary of the Setanta Vehicle Group in Dublin, has acquired RK Trucks Centre, the franchised partner for MAN Truck & Bus in Northern Ireland.
The purchase of RK Trucks Centre, which operates sites in Carryduff and Dungannon, represents a significant expansion to Setanta Group’s business in Northern Ireland.
Commenting on the deal, Setanta Group MD Harry Nash, who is Commercial Motor’s current Dealer Principal of the Year, said: “We are delighted to announce our purchase of the long established and well run Northern Ireland-based Man parts and service dealership.
“The MAN brand of vehicles, vans, trucks and coaches, are well received in Ireland and we very much look forward to working with the teams at RK Trucks, meeting with customers and investing in and growing the business. To further enhance our presence and offering across Northern Ireland we plan to invest in an additional new facility to the North of Belfast.”
RK Trucks Centre originally became part of the MAN Truck & Bus franchised dealer network in 1994 under the management and leadership of the late Donal Rice, who passed away late last year. The transition to Diamond Trucks Ltd, led by John Donnelly, ensures the continuity of operations and the continued trade under the RK Trucks name.
Stefan Thyssen, MD of MAN Truck & Bus UK Ltd, said: “We are thrilled that Harry Nash has chosen to invest in the MAN brand and is planning to further invest in the RK Trucks Centre sites. We wish him and the team every success for the future in what will be a beneficial relationship for both RK Trucks and MAN Truck & Bus UK.
“We would like to sincerely thank Iris, Nicola, Claire and the teams at both Dungannon and Carryduff for the exceptional representation of the MAN brand which they have provided over the years. Moving forward under the leadership of John Donnelly, are looking forward to continue to trade, closely with them in the future.”
