After being established in 2017 as a spin-off from the the industrial division of Pirelli Tyre, Prometeon has, up until now, sold Pirelli branded tyres but the company has now officially launched its first Prometeon-branded tyre range.
The Serie 02 was unveiled at an event near the Giza pyramids in Egypt.
Prometeon Tyre Group CEO, Roberto Righi, said: “Today is a truly historic occasion for our Group because the Prometeon brand appears for the first time on our most innovative tyres, the Serie 02. We are entering a new phase of Prometeon’s journey and can look back on a heritage that has generated more than 100 years of know-how and the production of more than 150 million tyres.
“This launch coincides with the 30th anniversary of our factory in Egypt, where more than 2,000 people are employed, some 100 of whom will be honoured during our celebrations because they began work at the plant when it was established in 1994 and continue to do so today.”
The Serie 02 will be manufactured at Prometeon’s Alexandria plant and sold to Europe, the Middle East and Africa with distribution expected to begin by the end of the year. The product line includes the G02 ON-OFF for mixed road and construction site applications, and the G210 for heavy regional jobs.
G02 ON-OFF is available for multiaxle and drive positions in sizes 325/95R24 and 12.00R24. G210 comes in a size 325/95 R24 and has a 24PR rating.
Prometeon’s Alexandria facility spans 300,000m² and has produced more than 19 million tyres over the past three decades. It’s Prometeon Tyre Group's fourth R&D location in addition to Italy, Brazil and Turkey. In 2022 a €85 million investment began to boost technological innovation and sustainability and this project is expected to conclude in 2026.
