Wedge Group Galvanizing has added five new DAF XD trucks to its fleet of more than 100 vehicles. These are the first new generation DAF trucks to join the fleet. The company operates across 14 sites in the UK offering hot dip galvanising services to customers.

Paul Thompson, group fleet transport manager at Wedge Group Galvanizing, said: “I’m delighted to take delivery of our first five new DAF XD 6x2 tractor units to be delivered to some of our plants throughout the UK. We have partnered with Ford & Slater for several years who have always provided Wedge Group with excellent service and backup. These vehicles will be maintained on a full DAF R&M contract giving me peace of mind so that we can fulfil our customer promise as the UK galvanizer of choice giving customers continued reliable excellent service.”

To suit Wedge Group’s specific application, the trucks meet GSR11 standards and include safety technology such as a tyre pressure monitoring system and DAF side and turn assist. The XDs are DVS compliant and have a three star DVS rating for safe operation in and around London. Inside, the co-driver seat is foldable to give the driver more room in the cab on long haul trips.

Mark Chater, accounts manager at Ford & Slater, said: “Our ongoing partnership with Wedge Group Galvanizing is built on a foundation of shared values of innovation and customer service. Supplying these top-of-the-line DAF trucks is a testament to our commitment to supporting Wedge Group's continuous efforts towards enhancing efficiency and sustainability within their operations. It's a privilege to play a role in this pivotal stage of their fleet development.”

Ford & Slater is one of the largest privately owned DAF dealer groups in Europe. Founded in 1928, the company is rapidly approaching its centenary. Last year the group was crowned the international Paccar financial dealer of the year.
