General haulage firm Haslington Haulage has expanded its fleet with four new DAF XG+ 530 FTG 6X2 tractor units. Supplied by Motus Commercials DAF Stoke-on-Trent dealership, the new trucks are an upgrade from older models in the fleet, bringing the total number of trucks to six and trailers to ten. The new additions aim to enhance operational capabilities, reliability, and driver comfort for the company.
The DAF XG+ tractor units have been equipped with a DAB radio, TV and a DVD player, and a microwave. Powered by a MX-13, 390 kW/530 HP engine paired to a 12-speed TraXon gearbox they've been specified with long distance in mind which is why they get the Xtra Leather Air Driver's Seat. The trucks also come with DAF MultiSupport full R&M cover for six years.
Laura Smith, director of Haslington Haulage, exlpained the company's rationale for choosing DAF, citing the brand's reliability and the overwhelming preference among their drivers.
Smith said, "Our decision to choose DAF was based on the brand's reliability and the overwhelming preference among our drivers. The XG+ was selected specifically for its spacious interior, crucial for our drivers' comfort who often live in the truck during long-haul journeys." She also added that the company was highly impressed with the new additions to its fleet and hinted at the possibility of future acquisitions.
“We’re really grateful they were delivered in time for the recent Smallwood Truck Show. Our relationship with Motus Commercials DAF has been highly satisfactory - they've gone above and beyond for us and in particular, Salesperson Matt Durose deserves a special mention,” Smith said.
Haslington Haulage driver, Martin Tomkinson, praised his new truck for its comfortable cab and well-thought-out features, including the fully electric bed that can be tilted for optimal TV-watching positions. Tomkinson also commended the improved gearbox, the new steering wheel position, and the responsive control panel.
