New warranty period for Volvo used trucks

Volvo Trucks has changed its warranty options for its used vehicles. The manufacturer’s driveline warranty for Volvo Approved vehicles can now be extended from a standard 12-month agreement to a maximum of 36-months. Should customers wish to extend a warranty this can be done at the point of purchase. 

Carl White, used truck director, said: “We take huge pride in our vehicle preparation and there's no scrimping or saving; if something needs doing, it gets done regardless of cost. Extending the available warranty on our Volvo Approved models sends a clear message of our trust in the assets we are selling. Our level of cover is more comprehensive than any warranty we’re aware of for trucks of this age or mileage.”

To ensure a vehicle meets the Volvo Approved standard, a 200-point inspection is completed as well as a full cosmetic appraisal to determine the condition of the vehicle. This level of Volvo used trucks is the most popular and generally includes tractors or rigids of very good quality with up to 750,000km.

A standard Volvo Driveline-Pro warranty of 12-month or 180,000km, whichever comes first, is applied. This can now be extended for an extra 24-months or 360,000km. The new 36-month warranty period covers up to 540,000km with a maximum odometer reading of 1,200,000km.

The Driveline-Pro warranty has extensive coverage over several parts that wouldn’t traditionally be included in used truck warranties. These include the clutch, AdBlue system, instrument cluster, tachograph head, night heater, cruise control and several components within nearly every ECU in the vehicle.

Alongside Volvo Approved standard trucks, Volvo Selected vehicles are offered as the highest quality used examples. These vehicles have fewer than 400,000km on the clock and come with a 24-month or 360,000km Driveline-Pro warranty. This can also be extended by 12-months or 180,000km to cover the same 36-month period.

Older and high-mileage vehicles are Volvo’s Economy models. These are clean and pass safety inspections before delivery. Volvo sells these vehicles with a six month, unlimited mileage warranty.
