Stuart Harvey Transport welcomes new Volvo FH

Supplied by Mike Gill, area sales manager at Volvo Truck and Bus Wales and West, Stuart Harvey Transport has taken delivery of a new Volvo FH 500 6x2 tractor unit. The high specification truck features a Globetrotter XL cab. In 2019, Stuart Harvey invested in its first Volvo. 

Stuart Harvey, owner, says: “Since taking delivery of our first Volvo, we’ve been mightily impressed with the brand’s driving performance, fuel efficiency and overall reliability. We certainly see ourselves welcoming more Volvos going forward.

“Mike has also been a huge asset on this order. He is always helpful, friendly and thorough, but for this model rather than us applying our livery post-delivery Mike was able to get everything sorted at Volvo’s factory. That meant that after adding the final touches ourselves we had the vehicle on the road in just three weeks post-delivery – by far our quickest turnaround ever.”

The FH is equipped with a Euro-6 compliant engine with 500hp and peak torque of 2,810 Nm thanks to its turbocompound technology. The 12-speed I-Shift automated transmission is upgraded with a dual clutch to improve gear change speed and smoothness. 

The company opted for the I-Save package which includes I-Cruise intelligent cruise control and I-Roll which optimises fuel consumption. The Globetrotter cab features leather seats, heated and ventilated driver’s seat, a coffee maker, TV, microwave, and full air suspension. On top of this, the media package and living+ packages add a 33-litre fridge/freezer, I-Park cool, and a premium 50mm mattress protector.

Drive+ means drivers benefit from dual armrests, electric air conditioning, air quality sensors and an adjustable steering wheel with neck tilt. Dynamic steering was also specified to improve the driving experience and prevent accidents. 

Harvey added: “We have some really keen lads who drive for us and who take care of their trucks, so we make sure they’re given everything they need to really enjoy their work.”

The truck is on a three-year Volvo Gold contract and is expected to clock up 130,000km annually.
