Hiab has appointed John Carnall as its new vice president and MD for the UK & Ireland.

The leadership change at crane manufacturer Hiab UK & Ireland sees former MD Ian Mitchell, depart the business to pursue other opportunities, having successfully held the position since 2019.

Carnall joins the business from another division of Hiab parent company Cargotec and brings 37 of experience in heavy industry, including 28 years working overseas, to his new post.

Combining a mechanical engineering background with strong service and after sales experience, Carnall’s brief is to continue the development of Hiab in the UK and Ireland, through organic growth and selective acquisition.

He said: “I am delighted to join what is already a hugely successful team and look forward to further developing the relationships we have with our loyal customers, who are accustomed to our products, service and innovations.

“Customers will remain at the heart of our approach as we continue on our journey to become the number one partner for on-road handling solutions.”

Hiab has four dedicated sales and service depots across the UK - Hiab Scotland in Cumbernauld, Glasgow; Hiab North in Northallerton, North Yorkshire; Hiab West Midlands in Dudley; and Hiab Ellesmere.

The depot network is an integral part of Hiab’s strategy to get closer to its customers using an agile approach to sales, service and aftersales solutions.

The four Hiab owned sites are part of a network of over 25 Authorised Service Centres which provide service and genuine parts to the whole of the UK.

The leadership change at Hiab UK & Ireland sees former Managing Director, Ian Mitchell, depart the business to pursue other opportunities, having successfully held the position since 2019.

  • Carnall will be heading to the Hiab stand at this year's Road Transport Expo from 28-30 June at NAEC Stoneleigh, so why not book your free ticket today to attend?
