New Iveco S-Ways for Ritchie Agricultural

Forfar-based Ritchie Agricultural has taken delivery of four new Iveco S-Way 490 4x2s.

Chosen for their efficiency, the trucks feature the Iveco Cursor 13 490hp engine which provides 2,400Nm of torque from 1,700-1,900rpm. Other fuel saving measures include an eco mode for the air conditioning, and A-pillar covers to improve cab aerodynamics. 

Logistics manager, Stephen Ritchie, said: “These Ivecos are better on fuel than any other trucks we’ve had. The 13-litre engine doesn’t need to work as hard to get the job done and the drivers really love the performance. Many of our drivers have driven just about every type of truck, but they all now favour Ivecos for their comfort and driving position.”

The trucks are equipped with air suspension, leather seats, double bunks, fridge, freezer and microwave. The infotainment system has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration and there’s several charging ports in the cab. 

Supplied by AM Phillip Forfar, the latest order continues a working relationship that dates back to 1993. Ritchie commented: “AM Phillip is fantastic! The service we get from this like-minded family-run business is top-notch. They are dependable, fast, and have a great ethos.”

The S-Ways have a connectivity box to enable over-the-air updates. Combined with the smart pack, this facilitates smart reporting to analyse efficiency, driving habits and vehicle health. Ritchie Agricultural opted for a four-year 3XL repair and maintenance plan and the vehicles are expected to cover 100,000km annually. 

Ritchie said: “The proactive system helps keep our trucks on the road and ensures they run without issue. Getting ahead of potential problems helps preserve vehicle longevity.”
