As part of a programme to grow its home delivery fleet, Wickes has taken delivery of two Scania P320 trucks. These are the first of 16 trucks that will join the fleet as part of an agreement between Wickes, Scania and Novuna Vehicle Solutions. Supplied by West Pennine Trucks Limited, the vehicles were custom built to Wickes’ specifications to prioritise safety and driver comfort.

Jon Lawes, managing director at Novuna Vehicle Solutions, said: “We’re delighted to continue fostering our relationship with Wickes, helping them to fulfil their home delivery service to thousands of customers across the UK by demonstrating our expertise as a total asset solution mobility partner.

“As they work towards achieving their decarbonisation targets and future proof their fleet, we’re looking forward to building on our partnership, supporting their transition to electrification and alternative fuels.”

Wickes and Novuna Vehicle Solutions have been working together since 2021 and currently manage 18 vehicles and 20 trailers in the partnership. Novuna is a leasing company that operates more than 8,000 HGVs in the UK. The new trucks have a 9-tonne payload and feature brick grab cranes. These will service customers across the UK ordering from Wickes’ 242 stores and the trucks will be operated by Wincaton under contract.

Mark Wheeler, national transport and compliance manager at Wickes added: "The partnership between Novuna is fairly new, but a very strong one. Novuna not only supports the Wickes commercial fleet leasing but also our consumer credit offering for big ticket items such as kitchens and bathrooms. Wickes has committed to reducing its scope one emissions by 40% and set a target of 2030 to reach this reduction.

“With changes to legislation, Wickes are at the beginning of a journey towards electrification of our commercial fleet and see partnerships such as the Wickes and Novuna one, a key to any future decision making."
