Apprentice of the Year Award

Nominate your star apprentice for the Commercial Motor Apprentice of the Year Award

Commercial Motor has launched the Apprentice of the Year Award in memory of Danny Broomfield, to recognise and celebrate outstanding apprentices across the UK road transport industry.

Employers are invited to nominate their standout apprentices via a short, straightforward entry form. All successful nominees will be featured in a Q&A profile in Commercial Motor magazine and online, giving apprentices national exposure and recognition for their work and progress.

Nominations are open now, with apprentice features running through to RTX 2026. The overall winner will be selected by an expert judging panel and announced live at RTX 2026.

About the award

Our editorial team will then interview every candidate, with their stories shared in the pages of Commercial Motor and online. It’s their chance to be seen, heard, and recognised.

The overall winner will be crowned at RTX 2026, along with the prestigious Danny Broomfield Apprentice of the Year trophy. Most importantly, every nominee will enjoy their much-deserved moment in the spotlight.

This is about recognising the next generation, and keeping Danny Broomfield’s legacy alive in the process.

Who was Danny Broomfield?

The award honours the life and legacy of Danny Broomfield, who was a passionate advocate of apprenticeships and vocational career paths throughout his career. It aims to shine a spotlight on the next generation of talent, from vehicle and trailer manufacturing to dealerships, bodybuilders, workshops, rental operations and logistics businesses.

The award is designed to promote vocational careers, encourage best practice across the industry and recognise the apprentices helping to shape the future of road transport.
