The DVSA is to publish a new version of the HGV inspection manual in May and wants hauliers views on the changes it has made.
The alterations include new definitions of “insecure” and “unsafe modification”; amendments to emissions testing standards; additions in the lighting section; and changes to how defects are defined so that they are now categorised as “minor”, “major” and “dangerous”.
The manual also has changes to format and layout.
The DVSA has invited hauliers and other operators to comment on the changes if they wish, particularly on the style of the manual and how easy it is to use.
Any comments should be sent to VTR@dvsa.gov.uk by 28 February.
