An HGV driver has been fined by the police after his windscreen was cluttered with accessories.

Cheshire police stopped and searched the lorry at Sandbach in Cheshire after noticing the dashboard was crammed full of items including flags, banners, decorative tassels, air fresheners and cuddly toys.

The force later tweeted a picture of the windscreen on Twitter to warn other drivers and said:

“HGV stopped at Sandbach this evening.

“Windscreen was heavily cluttered with accessories preventing the driver from having a clear view of not only the front mirror but the road ahead.

“Driver fined and prosecuted.”

The incident occurred a month after lorry driver Robert Bradbury was found guilty of causing death by careless driving after he killed a cyclist in Birmingham after he failed to see her because a tray table on his cab dashboard was cluttered with ornaments, restricting his view.
