The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has warned businesses that they must have employers’ liability insurance in place or face being fined.
The warning follows a case at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court when vehicle repair company AE Motors Birmingham was fined £726 after it was unable to produce a certificate of insurance during an inspection in January 2018 - part of an HSE initiative with West Midlands Police and Birmingham City Council.
Employers’ liability insurance ensures employers have at least the minimum level of insurance to cover against claims brought by employees who are injured at work or who become ill as a result of their work.
