A spate of thefts involving thieves forcing their way into HGVs parked at services on the M6 motorway are being investigated by the police. Nine pallets of baby milk, containing approximately 630 tubs, were stolen, along with boxes of cheese in incidents taking place on 8 and 9 March. Police said seven HGVs were also damaged.

The first theft is believed to take place between 10pm on 8 March and 6.15am the following morning at the M6 northbound Stafford services, with the baby milk stolen from inside a silver Scania. On 9 March, a further three incidents were reported. Two men were observed forcing entry into a number of vehicles at around 2.45am. A Renault, Mercedes and two other HGVs were damaged, although nothing was reported stolen.

Later that day, at 6am, a white Mercedes truck was targeted at Hilton Park Services on the M6 northbound, where boxes of cheese were stolen. Offenders also targeted another Mercedes HGV on the same premises, although nothing was stolen.

The police said they were currently investigating and were keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incidents. Officers would also encourage anyone who may have dashcam footage of the areas at the time of the reported thefts and criminal damage instances to get in touch.
