Volvo Truck & Bus Centre South & East has supplied Cambridgeshire-based Knowles Logistics with the first of five Volvo FH Aeros. This latest order is the result of a longstanding relationship between the two companies over more than 40 years.

Alex Knowles, MD at Knowles Logistics said: “We are pleased to receive these new Volvo FH Aeros to see the results of Volvo’s latest fuel saving technology. With fuel efficiency being so important these days and with large upcoming replacement programs, this gives us the opportunity to benchmark the FH Aero and its suitability to the Knowles fleet. The acquisition of these new vehicles is yet another step forward in our commitment to provide our customers with first-class logistics solutions.”

Fitted with a Globetrotter cab, the FH Aero’s design has an improved aerodynamic profile to offer up to 5% fuel savings. Additional aerodynamic benefits include Volvo’s Camera Monitoring System which replaces traditional mirrors with cameras and screen displays inside the cab.

Knowles Logistics opted for the 460hp engine. The truck also comes with a tyre pressure monitoring system for preventative maintenance and oversight on potential tyre issues before they become a problem. Other safety equipment includes lane keeping assistance and collision avoidance systems.

The new FH Aero and remaining four trucks join a fleet of circa 160 trucks and 220 trailers. So far, Knowles has taken on four electric vehicles and the FH Aeros are part of the company’s goals to reduce emissions by running the most efficient vehicles. The haulier is also using HVO fuel to reduce its environmental impact.

Knowles Logistics has taken the new vehicle on a Volvo blue repair and maintenance contract. Founded in 1932, Knowles Logistics offers distribution and storage solutions.

Volvo will be exhibiting at Road Transport Expo 2025, which takes place at NAEC Stoneleigh between 24-26 June. It’s free to attend and registrations are now open.
