The Mercedes-Benz Truck and Van division of Motus Group, Motus Truck & Van has been acquired by RCM SAGA. First announced in December 2024, the deal has now been finalised after meeting the required conditions for the transfer of properties. This agreement follows SAGA Truck & Van’s acquisition of Sparshatt Truck & Van earlier last year.

SAGA’s expansion now makes it one of the largest Mercedes-Benz Truck, Mercedes-Benz Van, and FUSO groups in the UK. Its locations cover Hertfordshire, Essex and East Anglia and Kent. Operationally, Motus Truck & Van will remain the same and soon SAGA branding will be rolled out across its new depots.

Rob Truscott, CEO of Motus Group (UK) said: “This sale enables us now to focus fully on the further development of our highly successful DAF operation, Motus Commercials, the biggest DAF dealer Group in Europe. In addition, we have many other commercial vehicle interests, such as the recently acquired Aftercare Response business. The Group also has major passenger car and van operations serving both fleet and private retail sectors.”

Philippe Canetti, European director of SAGA Truck said: “We are building on an already solid foundation with the incredible Motus Truck & Van teams. Together, we can meet the challenges of changing customer demands, while thriving in a competitive landscape. The future of the industry is changing, and our vision is to guide our customers through the transition to additional services and sustainable technologies. This is a time of great responsibility, but also of major opportunity.

“At the beginning of 2024, we expanded our UK presence with the acquisition of Sparshatt Truck and Van in Kent. Now, this latest acquisition marks another significant step in our growth journey. Together we represent a potential 1,200 trucks and 2,500 van sales in the UK, with 600 employees and a revenue around 400m Euros. However, these results can only be achieved with aligned values and embracing the future of the commercial vehicle industry; from evolving customer demands to the shift to additional services and sustainable technologies, we are in this together.”

Heiko Selzam, managing director of Daimler Truck UK said: “SAGA’s commitment to Truck excellence in the UK aligns perfectly with Daimler Truck’s vision. This partnership strengthens our ability to support our customers with industry-leading products, service and innovation.”

Leonhard Niemann, head of network development and training at Daimler Truck UK, added: “SAGA's development in the UK aligns seamlessly with our vision for transforming the Dealer network into a sustainable and future-proof model. This marks a pivotal step in strengthening our foundation to meet the evolving needs of our customers while driving innovation and sustainability within our operations.”

Kevin Ferris, head of network operations at Mercedes-Benz Vans, also commented: “This acquisition represents an exciting opportunity to build on the strength, expertise, and continuity offered to our customers.”
