LCV average auction values rise 1.5%

According to the National Association of Motor Auctions (NAMA) the average value of used LCV’s at auction across the board increased 1.5% from £4,770 to £4,843 in September.In its market report for the month, the organisation says volumes saw a 16.9 decrease, and the average mileage of LCV’s fell 1.2% to 77,918.The average price for vehicles under two years of age also fell by 1.2% in September, this despite having on average, almost 20% fewer miles.

Dawbarn opens new factory to meet demand

Wisbech-based bulk transport sheeting systems manufacturer Dawbarn has opened a new factory in response to increasing demand for its products.Its new manufacturing facility - a 35,000 sq ft building on a 3.5 acre site - is located in Enterprise Way on the outskirts of the Cambridgeshire town.The move has increased the number of production bays the company has available, and increased the workforce by 10 to 80.Dawbarn is also retaining its current site in Harecroft Road.

Isuzu Truck UK wins major European distributor award

Isuzu Truck UK has won the company’s European Distributor of the Year Award for the second year in a row.It was presented by Isuzu Motors Europe (IME) at Isuzu’s European Parts and Service Awards 2015 held in Rome recently.The awards are judged on a company’s performance throughout the year and cover categories including customer service, parts stock and availability, presentation of dealerships, training and overall service standards.

Kidderminster Mercedes-Benz dealer refurbishes branch

Mercedes-Benz truck and van dealer Rygor has begun a major refurbishment of its Kidderminster branch.Work is due to be completed by Christmas and will see the creation of a dedicated customer after sales reception area, improved customer parking and a brand new internal van sales showroom.During the renovation the branch will remain open to continue to serve both sales and aftersales customers.

Countrywide appoints ATS Euromaster for tyre maintenance

Countrywide has appointed ATS Euromaster to provide its tyre maintenance and checks.The supplier of products and services to the rural community previously serviced its fleet of 80 commercial vehicles - from vans to artics - through a range of independent dealers.Countrywide hopes the switch will enable it to organise consistent inspections and fitments across all 14 of its operating centres in the South West, Cotswolds, Midlands and Wales.

Tipper firm buys Axtec weighbridge

Tipper body manufacturer Aliweld has invested in an Axtec dynamic axle weighbridge.The firm, based in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, can now weigh vehicles before and after conversion, on site in less than 40 seconds, obtaining individual axle and gross weights to a guaranteed accuracy within 0.5 per cent.

Guest employee clocks up 50 years at dealer

An employee at West Bromwich-based commercial vehicle dealer Guest is celebrating 50 years at the business.Pete Harvey started in 1965 as an apprentice at the Black Lake site, where he worked in the body and parts department and later moved on to become general manager, including truck parts.He also helped with the integration of the parts businesses of Sherwood Truck and Van and Guest Truck and Van in 2011.

Volvo Action Service marks its silver anniversary

Volvo Action Service, the truck manufacturer’s breakdown call centre, is celebrating its 25th anniversary.The service - now part of Volvo Group Uptime Solutions - was originally founded in 1990 when a small team from the company’s headquarters in Warwick set it up.On 1 July 1990, Action Service Europe (ASE), as it was originally called, was ready to start taking calls and the switch-over to an in-house breakdown service was scheduled for midnight.

RH Rentals expands team

RH Commercial Vehicles (RHCV) has announced two important new appointments to its rentals division.Robert Pick (pictured) has joined RHCV in the new position of financial director at the East Midlands-based company.He was previously financial director at Charthire which was acquired by TOM Vehicle Rental last year.As well as having spent nearly three years at Charthire, Pick also has more than 20 years of experience in the financial sector as corporate director with Barclays Bank and NatWest.
