LCV prices down for second month

Rising volumes and poor condition put pressure on used LCV values in August according to commercial vehicle auction company BCA.The firm said average values for light commercial vehicles fell for the second month running, albeit marginally, as rising volumes of stock continued to reach the wholesale markets.Values declined from £5,544 in July to £5,507 in August, a fall of £37 (0.6%) over the month.

MAN and HRVS sign sponsorship deal with Scunthorpe United

MAN Truck & Bus UK, along with local dealer HRVS Group, has become Scunthorpe United football club’s back of shirt sponsor.Simon Elliott, MD, MAN Truck & Bus UK and Keith Sims, operations director, HRVS Group joined the club’s chairman, Peter Swann and chief executive, Jim Rodwell, at the club’s Glanford Park stadium to announce the two-year deal.

Grays opens £1m commercial vehicle dealership in Croydon

Grays Truck & Van Croydon has relocated to a new commercial vehicle sales, service and parts dealership on the former site of Croydon Airport.As part of an investment of almost £1m, the Iveco-owned dealership has been fitted out with vehicle maintenance and diagnostic equipment, including a new tachograph bay and brake roller tester.It also has vehicle ramps in nine of the 12 work bays.

Ford Transit still a top seller at 50

The Ford Transit in its 50th year continues to find success at LCV auctions, according to Shoreham Vehicle Auctions.Three generations of Transit going under the hammer at the south coast auctioneers in July included a 1997, ex-utility Transit Mk.3, a 2007, long wheelbase, high roof 2.5 litre diesel Mk.4 and a 2014 long wheelbase, medium roof Transit Mk.5 with just 22,000 miles on the clock.Newest Transit, the 2014 long-wheelbase, reached £16,600, surpassing its CAP Average figure of £14,500 by £2,100.

Daf unveils remote tachograph download

Daf has introduced a new remote digital tachograph download telematics product, developed in partnership with Microlise.Under the system, drivers do not need to present their tacho-card in person - either at the traffic office or for periodic manual downloading of vehicle utilisation (VU) data.Also there is no responsibility on the driver to remove their tacho-card and insert it into a different download slot.

Bullwell Trailer Solutions launches recruitment drive

Bullwell Trailer Solutions has launched a nationwide recruitment drive for HGV engineers due to rising demand for its mobile services from hauliers.The Lichfield-based mobile trailer repair and maintenance specialist is looking to recruit 25 mobile HGV engineers in the Midlands, London, Glasgow, Bristol, Basingstoke and the north of England. 

Northside Truck & Van holds three-day sale

Mercedes-Benz dealership Northside Truck & Van is holding a sale of 30 used trucks at a special three-day September registration plate switch event.The vehicles, which will be displayed at the firm’s site in Elland Road, Leeds, today (17 September) Friday and Saturday will include part-exchange heavy commercial vehicles, mainly Mercedes Actros and Axor models.

Fraikin appoints MD for expansion

Fleet management, contract hire and rental specialist Fraikin has appointed a new MD as it looks to grow its UK operations.Hugh Cole, 54, has extensive experience in asset rental and leasing - initially with Avis in the 1990s and then as operations director of Europcar between 2000 and 2004.The chartered engineer was also fleet director at Balfour Beatty Group for three years until 2013.
