NAMA: used LCV values drop 4.5% from June to July

According to The National Association of Motor Auctions (NAMA) the average value of used LCV’s at auction across the board in July 2015 decreased 4.5% compared to June.In its market report for July the organisation found there was a 2.7% increase in volumes to 10,478 units, and the average age of LCVs sold at auction remained at 67.7 months.The average price achieved for LCVs increased in July by 1%. However, compared to this period last year, average prices sat 4.5% lower.

New dealerpoint for Truck and Bus Wales and West

Volvo dealer Truck and Bus Wales and West has opened a brand new dealerpoint in Evesham.The purpose-built facility is located off the A46 on Enterprise Way, Vale Park, 20 minutes from Junction nine of the M5.The new dealerpoint - which has three full-size workshop bays plus parts department - will support new and existing Volvo customers in the Worcester, Warwickshire and Gloucester areas.It will bring the total number of Volvo Truck and Bus dealerpoints in the UK and Ireland to 85.

S&B's Liam Walker wins Britain's first Canter Technician of the Year award

An S&B Commercials employee has won Britain’s first Canter Technician of the Year award.Liam Walker, 26, from Bexleyheath, who works in the West Thurrock branch of the Mercedes-Benz and Fuso dealership, defeated experienced professionals with many more years’ service to win.About 70 technicians entered the competition, submitting answers to a written theory test.

Eldridge and Fairclough appointed to Prohire team

Commercial vehicle fleet management specialist Prohire has appointed Jonathan Eldridge and James Fairclough as rental sales and rental operations managers respectively.In what is a newly defined role Eldridge will work with existing and new rental customers to ensure that, through a dedicated point of contact, they receive quality levels of service.Fairclough will be responsible for the day-to-day logistics, maintenance and compliance of the rental fleet.

Aftersales changes at Daf after staff retirements

Daf Trucks has bolstered its aftersales department by making several key new appointments following the retirement of two highly experienced members of staff.Mark Dimmick and Andrew Grigor have joined Daf Trucks as regional aftersales managers for the South West and the Midlands & Eastern regions respectively, replacing two long-serving retirees - Malcolm Pritchard and Dick Makin.

S&B appoints new dealer principal

Mercedes-Benz truck and van dealer S&B Commercials has appointed a new dealer principal with Neil Jacob taking on the role following the departure of predecessor Daniel Holmes.S&B represents Mercedes-Benz and Fuso trucks in Essex, Hertfordshire, and North London.It employs 275 people and operates from headquarters in Welham Green, and from other principal sites at Hatfeld, Stansted and West Thurrock.

TIP acquires Bell Trailers (Rental)

TIP Trailer Services UK has acquired the entire share capital of Bell Trailers (Rental).Under the deal, which was successfully concluded on August 21, Bell Trailers will continue to operate from its site in Nelson, Lancashire, and retain its current management team.Bell Trailers was established in 1988 and has operated from its existing site in Nelson since 1998.It has built up its fleet of 1,400 rental trailers through strong organic growth.
