TIP acquires Bell Trailers (Rental)

TIP Trailer Services UK has acquired the entire share capital of Bell Trailers (Rental).Under the deal, which was successfully concluded on August 21, Bell Trailers will continue to operate from its site in Nelson, Lancashire, and retain its current management team.Bell Trailers was established in 1988 and has operated from its existing site in Nelson since 1998.It has built up its fleet of 1,400 rental trailers through strong organic growth.

BT Fleet adds ATFs to three garages

Fleet management specialist BT Fleet has added Authorised Testing Facility (ATF) capabilities at three of its garages: Maidstone, Lutterworth (Magna Park) and Northallerton.BT Fleet has partnered with garage equipment manufacturer, GEMCO, on the project, which has included introducing a compressed air supply into the inspection and workshop pits, fitting shaker plates and accessory boards, plus supply of brake tester cover plates.

Steady LCV prices leads to stability for the market

Minimal price fluctuations of used LCVs in all age brackets throughout the first six months of 2015 has led to a prolonged period of stability in the market, according to Shoreham Vehicle Auctions.The company says this stability is being driven by a delicate balance of supply and demand in the used LCV market; with a rise in supply levels being met with strong demand for high quality used LCVs.

Chiltern Cold Storage adopts Michelin solutions tyre contract

Temperature controlled logistics specialist Chiltern Cold Storage has adopted a fully managed tyre contract with Michelin solutions.The agreement will see Michelin solutions take care of all Chiltern Cold Storage’s tyre requirements on a price-per-kilometre (PPK) basis for the next three years.This includes fitting the latest generation Michelin tyres, providing detailed management information on tyre performance, carrying out fleet-wide tyre safety inspections and servicing.

British Gas chooses CrossClimate tyres

Britain’s largest energy provider, British Gas, is to fit Michelin CrossClimate tyres to its fleet of 13,000 commercial vehicles.British Gas will be asking original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to supply CrossClimate tyres on its new vehicles where possible.All replacement tyres will be fitted by ATS Euromaster.

Renault volunteers to train United Nations Africa staff

Volunteers from Renault Trucks are set to train World Food Programme (WFP) mechanics, workshop managers, fleet managers and trainers in central and western Africa.As part of a three-year extension of a partnership with the WFP they will visit sites in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Central African Republic, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Chad and Uganda and lead training sessions in workshop and fleet management using a Renault Kerax 6x6, configured as a mobile training unit.

Data shows a service history can add up to 10% on LCVs

According to research from BCA, a service history can add up to 10% on the value of light commercial vehicles at auction.The company researched price performance over a basket of 5,000 vehicles earlier this year from a variety of sellers including corporate and dealer sources, split by mileage. It discovered that for LCVs with service history there were improvements in performance against guide price of more than ten per cent being recorded.
