Used LCV value up 1.7% between May and June

The latest National Association of Motor Auctions (NAMA) light commercial vehicle (LCV) market report shows that the average value of used LCV’s at auction across the board increased 1.7% to £4.677 between May and June.According to the organisation volumes saw a 6.6% increase, and the average age of LCV’s sold at auction fell from 69.3 to 67.7 months.The average number of days that LCVs remained on site rose to 15.4 days, and the average mileage decreased from 81,761 to 80,504 miles.

Daf begins search for UK Technician of the Year

The process of finding Daf Trucks’ 2015 UK Technician of the Year is under way.The competition, open to all Daf technicians, begins with a network wide technical questionnaire accessed online through the Daf TechShare programme.Technicians are divided into four categories to reflect differing levels of training - from level 1 to correspond with basic product knowledge through to master technician ability.By the end of this month, technicians will have completed the first of four question papers.

Wrings lauds City West driver training programme

Avonmouth-based Wrings Transport has praised the driver training offered by its local Mercedes-Benz dealer City West Commercials.Driver-trainer at City West Commercials Justyn Marshman delivered a first round of instruction to drivers using Wrings’s first four Euro-6 Actros 2545 trucks, three months after they entered service.

Boroughbridge Motors opens its own ATF

Boroughbridge Motors - part of temperature controlled storage and distribution business Reed Boardall - has opened an ATF. The company worked with local Volvo dealer Crossroads Truck and Bus to create the facility at its Boroughbridge, North Yorkshire site which will provide MoT testing for the 180-strong Reed Boardall fleet.Reed Boardall said the move made sense following the closure of the Wetherby testing facility.

LCV price stability boosts confidence

Overall LCV year-on-year residual values have stabilised throughout the first five months of 2015 at £4,599, representing the largest period of stability since November 2012, according to Shoreham Vehicle Auctions.The organisation says average year-on-year prices have fluctuated just 6.6% throughout the year so far, compared with prices in the same period in 2014.This compares favourably with the last three years, where average prices have fluctuated by up to a fifth year-on-year.

Model gift for retiring MAN manager Tom

Tom Richards (pictured right) was presented with a model truck to mark his retirement from MAN after 27 years of service.The Network Operations Manager from Middlewich, Cheshire, served the company since 1988, although before 2000 he was an ERF employee.In his time with the firm the 65-year-old worked in various roles, including Warranty Manager and Internal Auditor.

Ryder relocates to new premises in Northampton

Ryder has moved to a new site in Northampton following significant increases in demand for its truck and trailer rental, contract hire and vehicle maintenance services in the area.The company, which has been in the town for more than ten years, has relocated to a larger facility in the Swan Valley.Ryder recently ordered more than 300 Euro-6 tractors units as well as a large number of purpose-built refrigerated trailers which it hopes will be snapped up by food distribution businesses in the East Midlands.

Intercounty opens new Mercedes-Benz dealership in Boston

Mercedes-Benz dealer Intercounty Truck & Van has opened a new depot on the outskirts of Boston, Lincolnshire. The multi-million pound facility is on a three-acre site at Old Station Yard, Sutterton, on the junction of the busy A16 and A17. It includes a smart reception area, with sales and administration staff working from offices above. The workshop is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, supported by a fully stocked parts department.
