Imperial Commercials opens 2.2-acre Swindon service and parts facility

Daf Trucks dealer group Imperial Commercials has opened its new purpose-built service and parts facility in Swindon.The new 2.2-acre freehold site - located at Dorcan on the A149 just off junction 15 of the M4 - replaces Imperial’s existing site at the Britannia Trade Park in the Wiltshire town.All existing staff will relocate to the new facility and the company is recruiting for extra HGV technicians.

Six of the best rewarded at MAN dealer awards

The MAN network in the UK has been celebrating its successes at the company’s annual Dealer of the Year Awards event.Trophies were presented during the event held at the Powerscourt Hotel Dublin, recognising the success of small, medium and large dealers throughout the UK.The winners were AN Richards of Llangollen (small), Imperial Commercials of Peterborough (medium) and DSV Commercials of Immingham (large).They will receive £10,000 each to invest in their businesses.

Renault dealer WTL Truck & Van moves to bigger centre

Renault Trucks’ approved service dealer for Cambridge, WTL Truck & Van Centres, has opened its new dealership in Duxford.The 10,000 square foot facility - part of a £7m investment by parent company, Welch Group - is equipped with eight full size bays, a dedicated ATF line and a tacho bay for digital and analogue tachograph repairs.

Used Mercedes-Benz Actros attracts crowds at CV Show

One of the big attractions at the CV Show is the used truck that Mercedes-Benz brings along each event to display on its stand.This year the manufacturer had this Actros 2546LS 6x2 MegaSpace BlueTec Euro-5 artic, complete with decorative airbrushed artwork.

Operators feeling pinch as test stations shut

An East Yorkshire haulier said the closure of testing stations in the region was piling on the cost for operators trying to maintain their vehicles.Mick Harvey, transport co-ordinator at W. Clifford Watts in Bridlington, said the closure of the goods vehicle testing station in nearby Beverley meant it was relying heavily on Scarborough’s test centre, but that this was now cutting down the days it tests too.

Manheim launches new mobile auction Amarok for vendors

Manheim unveiled its brand new mobile auction unit at this year’s CV Show, designed to allow vendors to stage live auction events wherever and whenever suits them best.The specially adapted Volkswagen Amarok enables the company to take its Simulcast service and auctioneer out on the open road and onto the vendors’ premises to deliver a live auction event in front of a physical and online audience.

Barnes Logistics adds eight Scania tractors

Barnes Logistics based in Oldham recently took delivery of a fleet of eight approved used Scania G440 Highline Tractor units.The fleet of low mileage, two-year-old tractor units supplied by Chris Hall from West Pennine Trucks in Middleton, join an existing fleet of around 50 Scanias.

March LCV values up 1.5% on February

Average values for light commercial vehicles rose in March, to £5,616, a rise of £84 (1.5%) compared to February, according to the BCA.Fleet and lease values improved for the second month running, the organisation said, while part-exchange values declined marginally.  Year-on-year, average values were up by £59 (1.0%) compared to March 2014, although performance against CAP declined by two and a half points over the year.

RH Commercial Vehicles boosts management team

East Midlands Renault Trucks distributor RH Commercial Vehicles (RHCV) has appointed two internal staff to its management team. Bryan Stanton and James Daykin, who both work at RHCV’s Nottingham site, have been promoted to workshop manager and parts manager respectively.Stanton has worked at RHCV for almost 20 years, while Daykin joined the company straight from college on a parts apprenticeship nine years ago.
