MTC Northwest explains the Golden Rule of having two truck franchises under one roof

If you hold two major truck franchises at the one location then there is a golden rule you should always observe. Treat them - and their customers - equally and never favour one franchise over the other. That rule is being scrupulously observed by family-owned Kirkby, Liverpool-based MTC Northwest says MD, Stephen Gray (pictured, left). Already a Daf parts and service dealer, it began doing the same job for MAN in 2014 thereby filling a long-standing gap in the German manufacturer's network coverage.

The future's looking bright for the commercial vehicle market

The National Association of Motor Auctions (NAMA) is confident 2015 will be a highly successful year for the commercial vehicle market.         NAMA’s Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) market report for December shows that the average values of used LCV’s at auction across the board increased 2.9% from £4,948 to £5,091 between November and December. Volumes saw a 36.4% decrease, and the average age of LCV’s sold at auction fell to 65.9 months.

Specialist vehicle is a reliable workhorse

This week’s used truck choice is a Euro-5 Daf CF75.310 6x2 derivative 26t Beavertail.Described by vendor LC Vehicle Hire as a “lovely specialist vehicle” this lorry loader comes with a remote control HMF 2420 double extension crane.The vehicle, which has a sleeper cab, is manual transmission and has a total of 185,000kms on the clock. It was registered in June 2010 as a 10 plate and the MoT is due in March 2015.

Scania Maidstone set to open off M20

This week in CM we report that Maidstone is set to become home of the first of a new generation of purpose-built drive-through Scania dealerships.  The new 2.5-acre Scania Maidstone premises, situated on the A229 just off junction 6 of the M20 and scheduled to open in January 2016, represents a total investment of £6m.  It will feature five drive-through workshop bays and a DVSA Authorised Testing Facility (ATF) lane.  Also, building work on Rygor’s new commercial vehicle centre in Gloucester (pictured) is due to start in April.

The DVSA has confirmed it will roll out its Next Generation Testing (NGT) model for authorised testing facilities (ATFs) nationally over the next two years, and unveiled a revised ATF contract incorporating the changes it involves.
