Daf dealership Chassis Cab gives hospice the gift that keeps on giving

Daf truck dealership Chassis Cab has added extra sign-writing to its new parts van to support the vital work of St Nicholas Hospice Care.MD at the dealership Robert Baxter, (left, with Abby Mayes, St Nicholas Hospice Care Corporate Fundraiser) said the easy to spot livery will act as a mobile reminder to people to donate funds to help support hospice care. Chassis Cab -  with sites at Bury St Edmunds, Ipswich, Cambridge and Isleham - will also provide an additional and ongoing money per mile donation. 

Wreford Transport signs up the used heavyweights

Northampton-based Wreford Transport has added three more MAN TGX26.480 XLX to its 100-strong fleet.Director Andy Wreford said: “The three 44-tonne vehicles were part of the Top Used programme.“They were ready and available and ideal for what we were looking for. The fact that they were there and ready to go was definitely an advantage and at least one of the reasons behind our decisions to go for MAN again.

Daf endorses recent F&G Commercials acquisition

Volvo Trucks appoint Mike Corcoran as commercial truck director

Volvo Trucks has announced that Mike Corcoran has been appointed to the position of commercial truck director.In his new role, Corcoran will be responsible for the Volvo Trucks new trucks business - including fleet sales - in the UK and Ireland and will report directly to Arne Knaben, Volvo Trucks’ MD.Corcoran has held several positions in various Volvo Group UK companies, including Volvo Financial Services, which he joined in 1999.His experience also includes three years in the dealer network.

Where now for Aquila Truck Centres as it gets more funding from outside

When news broke that Aquila Truck Centres were in trouble it came as a bit of a shock. After all, Aquila had been very prominent in recent times. Last year Commercial Motor reported it had struck a deal with Vertu Motors to acquire the lveco dealer Bristol Street Commercials (CM, 23 May 2013). Aquila Group MD Gary Mullaney proudly announced that the purchase was “part of our long-term growth strategy”.

Top used truck choice is a Scania R-series tractor

This week’s used truck of the week from classified is a late-year Scania R440 6x2 with a Highline cab. Painted in metallic silver this truck was registered in 2010, it’s on a 10-plate, and it comes with a full Scania service history. The Euro-5 12.7-litre engine produces 440hp and 2,300Nm torque.

Chevron Lubricants delivers fuel savings of 3.47% to Gist

Independent trials of the new Texaco Ursa Ultra X 10W-30 engine oil with leading UK supply chain company Gist have shown potential fuel savings of 3.47% when tested against a 10W-40 low SAPS (Sulphated Ash, Phosphorus and Sulphur) oil.
