Hereford-based Arthur Oakley Transport is expecting a second S.CS COIL X-LIGHT curtainsider later this month. After recently taking delivery of an S.CS COIL X-LIGHT semi-trailer and S.CS FREEPOST the haulier went back to Schmitz Cargobull to continue growing its fleet of 20 trailers. The company mainly transports heavy steel rolls to steelworks across the UK and is also a member of Palletways.
Steve Underwood, transport manager at Arthur Oakley Transport, said: “We continue to be highly impressed by the quality of Schmitz Cargobull’s trailers – the first S.CS COIL X-LIGHT just blew us away. When we wanted to add a curtainsider to manage our pallet delivery service, we looked no further than Schmitz Cargobull and chose the S.CS FREEPOST. It’s very robust and fits the bill perfectly.”
The S.CS FREEPOST is used around Herefordshire and Worcestershire on multidrop jobs. The design features a bolted galvanised steel cant rail, fixed aluminium roof and a reinforced chassis. It’s manufactured in the UK at Schmitz Cargobull’s plant in Manchester.
To maximise payload and fuel economy, the S.CS COIL X-LIGHT uses lighter materials and fewer parts to reduce its unladen weight. Its rapid roof lift improves loading efficiency when using the full interior height. The trailer will be used to transport single steel coils with a payload up to 29-tonnes. Underwood said: “The lighter trailer gives us the scope to manage heavier loads and, with a cover over the coil well, we can maximise the capacity to transport other freight.”
Underwood added: “We have an excellent relationship with Schmitz Cargobull. Their team always puts a lot of effort into looking after our business, finding the best solutions to meet our requirements.” Arthur Oakley Transport has been using Schmitz Cargobull trailers for more than a decade to pair with its fleet of 25 trucks.
